▫ After a break in the early part of the year, a new release on Dubwise Station is finally cropping up. It was worth the wait as it is the long awaited Rewind Culture album, a collaboration project between DJAM from the Junglist Posse and our very own Viniselecta. The album is definitely landing with a modern sound but it’s underpinned by a meticulous sampling work which brings a nostalgic touch at points. This reflects the extended experience of our two artists who have been producing music since the early 90s.

Musicwise things kind of start gently at 140bpm with ‘One Way To The Sound’ with a guest appearance from JMDee-Beat on the keyboard. From there things get to cruising speed with Dub Bop Song. One of the highlights is probably 'Remember Dem' on which the one like Aries has joined in the production to inject his signature modern jungle touch. The all-star line-up is completed by no one else than the legendary Ragga Twins on the vocals who recorded their lyrics in our studio in Paris just before their
appearance at one of the Dubwise Station live session event. The track has also benefited from a remix treatment from our other usual suspect U-Stone who this time brought a modern Drumstep rework.

The rest of the album essentially remains on a similar approach but with interesting variations in the vibe providing some proper dancefloor tunes such as ‘Strictly Weed’ or some deeper work with ‘Yes We Are Kids’ and even a melancholic touch at points like ‘Stone Love’ which features Fu-Steps on the vocals. The end of the album lets you land as you started at 140bpm but this time with a powerful breaks outro with ‘Dub Fi Dub’.

For their first outing Rewind Culture has surely set the mark high with a complete album that also
benefited from top production work and mastering. Let see what the future holds for them. ▫
